Protecting Pipework Beneath Concrete Floors
This leaking pipe was buried inside a concrete floor and had not been properly protected. Over time, movement, expansion and contact with the concrete caused the pipework to fail, resulting in a hidden leak beneath the floor.
Copper pipework should never be laid directly into concrete without suitable protection. Pipes should be sleeved, wrapped or installed inside protective ducting to prevent the concrete from attacking the copper and to allow for natural expansion and movement.
